The 5 most famous watches and the men who wore them

Throughout history there have been many iconic watches; many of them on film, some of them on the stage and even one on the moon. Here at Miltons Diamonds, we have a range of iconic watches that have graced the wrists of some of the most famous men and women. We have created a guide to walk you through who they are, what they’re wearing and where you can find them.

James Bond watches

It’s no surprise that some iconic James Bond watches are featured on this list and we have two designs from arguably the most stylish Bond’s from the films franchise. First up, we have Sean Connery’s first portrayal as 007 in the 1962 film, Dr. No.

Rolex Submariner – Sean Connery – Dr. No

Rolex Submariner

The Rolex Submariner is designed with diving in mind, featuring hardwearing components that make it the perfect watch for Sean Connery’s Bond, as well as everyday life. Water-resistant up to 300m, browse through Rolex Submariners in a variety of colourways, all with scratch-resistant sapphire glass. This makes them the perfect choice for the next time you’re on an international espionage mission, being chased by an evil man who sits with a cat on his lap (or your next holiday). Sean Connery wore the Rolex Submariner 6538 in the film and you will find many designs within the Submariner watch family at Miltons Diamonds that you can add to your collection.

Omega Seamaster

The next watch on our list of famous watches is the Omega Seamaster as worn by Daniel Craig as James Bond in the 2012 film Skyfall. The Seamaster is one of the most stylish celebrity watches that grace the list and here at Miltons Diamonds, you will find designs that are perfect for every modern gentleman. The Seamaster is practical in design and can be worn with a range of styles like relaxed days when you are walking from the sea in speedos with a shaken, not stirred martini or for nights out with friends. As one of the most stylish Bond’s, we trust Daniel Craig when he said “It’s an incredibly comfortable watch to wear.” Why not take a look through the history of James Bond watches and find out which Bond had the most expensive taste in timepieces.

Omega Speedmaster – Buzz Aldrin

Omega Speedmaster

The next timepiece on our list of famous watches is the Omega Speedmaster which was worn in space by Buzz Aldrin on his 1969 voyage to the moon. The Omega Speedmaster is the first watch to make it to the surface of the moon, but once the Apollo mission landed back on Earth – the watch was lost. Aldrin sent the Speedmaster to the Smithsonian Museum in Washington to be displayed but it was lost in the mail. The watches within the Omega Speedmaster range include charismatic timepieces encompassed in stainless steel to protect the design from the wear and tear of everyday life.  (CC: Buzz Aldrin – if you are looking for a replacement, you can find one at Miltons Diamonds).

Stylish but psychotic, Christian Bale features within our list of the most famous watches. In the 2000 film American Psycho where Christian plays Patrick Bateman, a materialistic Wall Street investment banker with a dark edge. A taste for sophistication (but also blood) Bale wears the Rolex Datejust in the thriller and the chic design complements his sharp suits perfectly. If you are searching for a timepiece that will impress in the boardroom as much as a business card printed on “bone coloured paper in the font Silian Rail” this is the perfect choice for you. The Rolex Datejust is a world-famous watch and has been worn by many famous people throughout history including David Beckham, Roger Federer and Bono.

Omega Constellation – Elvis
